CLA BOARD MEETING
The next CLA Board meeting is Wednesday, August 21 at 7pm. The meeting will be at
the Chester Township Hall: 3509 Sehler St. Conklin, Mi 49403.
Our guest speaker will be from “SludgeHammer Lake Solutions.” SludgeHammer
introduces sophisticated microbiology to wastewater engineering (i.e. septic tanks). Their
focus on the software, the SludgeHammer Blend™ bacterial inoculum, allows simple, elegant hardware designed to be introduced into conventional septic systems, converting them into
the most cost-effective and biologically powerful wastewater treatment in the industry.
The Board of Directors values your thoughts, ideas, and opinions about our lake.
JULY 3 2024 CELEBRATION ON CROCKERY LAKE
What an outstanding day we all shared on our lovely lake. There were gatherings
everywhere and the sound of laughter and fun was a welcome sound. The boat parade
had the most participants ever! 9 boats! Thanks and a round of applause to all who
participated! And the winners are: See pictures in the download.
FIREWORKS 2025
Thank you to everyone who donated to the fireworks fund for this year. They were
fabulous! And a special thanks to all of you who have donated to the 2025 fireworks fund so far.
Crockery Lake fireworks are totally paid for from contributions from our lake residents and
friends. In order to enjoy the same show next year we need to raise a minimum of $7,500.
Anything more than that will just enhance the fireworks display! At this time we have $5,588! We need $1,910 more to match this year's fireworks display.Donations can be made via the website at: www.crockerylake.org or send to:
Greg Slater, 2500 Crockery Shores Road, Casnovia, MI 49318
BECOME AN ASSOCIATION MEMBER
Being an association member benefits you and everyone. The CLA Association plans the July 3 activities including the fireworks. They closely monitor the health of the lake and they are involved with Chester Township, Ottawa County, EGLE, Restorative Lake Sciences, and Professional Lake Management for a healthy, beautiful lake for everyone to enjoy. They keep you informed by the newsletters, website, and Facebook page.
Dues are $40 per household. Any amount you give over the $40 goes towards fireworks. Firework donations are tax deductible.
WATER QUALITY REPORT
1. The technicians from Restorative Lake Sciences have completed two of this summer’s set of tests on the lake. Results are not surprising. High phosphorus levels on the bottom. There will be one more set of tests done at the end of September. When all of those tests are complete, Dr. Jones will formulate a proposal for lake remediation/treatment. We hope that you will stay connected via the website and newsletters so you have knowledge of the proposal and what it will cost to clean up our lake.
2. The CLA Board has been working hard with Chester Township, Ottawa County, and state seeking financial help with the testing. It is unlikely that they will contribute to any of the actual treatment cost. We have a monetary ($) commitment from the township to help with some of this summer’s testing.
3. Also, after several calls and emails to EGLE and Ottawa County Health Department and with the help of Chester Township Trustee, Troy Goodno, the county has decided to do bi-weekly water testing for e-coli at the park until Labor Day. They will resume testing next Memorial Day (2025) and test until Labor Day (2025). If they see any possible change in the water that could be algae they will test for that as well. If there are any positive tests for e-coli or cyanobacteria (algae) they will test more often and report it to the state.
This is what the CLA Board of Directors does for YOU! We hope you will support our efforts by becoming an association member.
