🌊 BOAT ETIQUETTE

Crockery Lake is an all-sports lake, but we all need to be responsible boaters:

  • Wake boat waves can be erosive to shorelines

  • While there is no legislation yet, please follow these guidelines now:

    • Stay closer to the center of the lake for wake sport mode

    • Empty ballast when not in wake sport mode

    • Make sure ballasts are emptied and flushed, boats and trailers are rinsed after visiting other lakes.

    • All boats should avoid shorelines, docks, swim docks, floaters, kayakers, paddle boarders and swimmers. Stay a safe distance at all times.

💵 2025 DUES & FIREWORKS DONATIONS

Directors will soon visit to collect:

  • $40 annual dues

🌿 LAKE QUALITY UPDATE

On May 20, PLM did a weed and algae treatment on areas of the lake that exhibited some algae and excessive weed growth. After the treatment we saw large islands of floating weeds but it appeared that it wasn’t as effective as predicted. We contacted PLM and they did another treatment around June 10.  This one appears to have had much more success. Thank you all for your patience and concern for the lake and for keeping us informed of your concerns.

Restorative Lake Sciences is working hard to secure a pre-application meeting with EGLE to determine what is necessary for permits for the lake remediation  proposed.

A few years ago, Carl Elliott gave a presentation on NT-Max Lake and Pond Treatment. This is a treatment that has been successful in clearing up swim areas on lake fronts and in ponds. If we all do this individually we do not need an EGLE permit. Carl and few others have seen improvement in the waters by their shorelines from this application. If there is enough interest there is a significant discount when ordered in bulk. Here is the link: https://newtechbio.com/nt-max-biological-water-treatment/#treatment-guide

🌱 How You Can Help

  • NO fertilizers near the water

  • Keep grass clippings out of the lake

  • Maintain septic and drain fields

  • If you have not had your septic tank pumped in the past 5 years, NOW is the time!

  • Manage stormwater runoff responsibly
